ZOOMA Cape Cod Fitness Weekend

Cape Cod is beautiful!

Please note:  I am a ZOOMA ambassador. I get a free race entry for any ZOOMA event I choose to attend.  All other expenses are on my own.

At my house, we plan our “big” vacation a couple of years out.  We have a list and we work it like a job- LOL!  Cape Cod was on the list and I was thrilled to be able to run the Half marathon.  The race made the Runner’s World top 10 destination races list!  I was in!  Then the email came, no half marathon this year.  The event was revamped to a yoga fitness weekend.  I understand these things, after all I am married to the Director of Sports Marketing for Polk County. Shit happens, there is no other way to explain it.  Our vacation was already planned so I was still interested in the revamped event.

I loved the idea of the yoga and group run idea.  No stress!  Right?  The hubby and I flew into Boston and headed down to Falmouth.  I got to the resort a little later than I planned but hey, I’m on vacation!  It was fun to be greeted by both Brae and Brooke from ZOOMA and a couple other ambassadors.  I did get to help with registrations for about an hour before Hip Hop yoga was due to start.  The hubby got our bags to the room and quickly found the bar while I got set up for yoga.  It was fun!  I had no idea what to expect but the instructor did a great job getting the group to loosen up!

If you want my opinion yoga is a great way to start a vacation!  After the flight and the drive down that class was heaven!  I headed quickly to the bar for the reception and grabbed a glass of wine provided by Barefoot Wine.  The snacks were about gone so the hubby and I headed in for some clam chowder.  The food did not disappoint!

ZOOMA set up a group Facebook page for all the attendees to post updates and keep in touch.  The group run was a bit unorganized.  I posted in the group to encourage runners to meet me in the lobby after beach yoga and I was ready for bed!

I bounced up early and was ready for yoga on the beach.  This is a fantastic experience!  I live in Florida with beautiful beaches but this was just lovely!  If you haven’t had the chance to take yoga, on the beach, listening to waves. put it on your bucket list.  You will not be sorry!  The class was smooth, peaceful and full of stretches.

The group run was very confusing.  I thought I would have a group to pace and that did not happen.  I ran into fellow ambassador, Janelle (Run with no Regrets) and we tried to get as many runners as we could out and running.  We had a nice size group and the ladies naturally shook out at their own pace.  I met some fabulous ladies and had a great run!  We talked, we ran, we took pictures and soaked up all the fabulous Falmouth weather!  I managed to get in a great 6.5 miles and I  ran in the finish with Janelle.

The beach party was in action with more Barefoot wine and bubbly  and live music!  There was plenty of treats for the taking and tents were set up on the beach for massages.  I enjoyed the mingling with runners and the extra time with Brae and Brooke from ZOOMA.  By 11am, the hubby was getting restless and ready to check the town out so my ZOOMA Cape Cod adventure was quickly coming to an end.

ZOOMA Cape Cod PROS:  great location, great swag! ( cute race shirt, hoodie, canvas bag, drink bottle, and yoga mat) , free pictures and great vendors!

ZOOMA Cape Cod CONS:  the run was unorganized , the hotel was beautiful but a little pricey, and I thought the event could use one more demonstration, class or something to round out the event.  But hey, I am just being picky!

Like any event there is always the good with the bad.  If you needed a reason, a great location, and a few activities to launch a great girls weekend this was the place to be!  I am thinking I need to look into more yoga classes etc. when I travel, such a great stress reliever!  I am not saying that traveling with the hubby is stressful………

Next weekend I am headed to ZOOMA Florida!  This will be a real girl’s weekend for me!  The hubby is hunting and I can’t think of a better place to spend the weekend than the Ritz Carlton!

Have you run a ZOOMA event?  This was my first adventure to Cape Cod and will be my 3rd trip to Amelia Island.  What is your favorite girl’s trip destination?

Interesting recap! I had no idea the race had been cancelled for this event. All the yoga sounds fun but it would have been nice for the group run to be a bit more organized too. Maybe next time if they do a similar weekend in the future.

  2. Glad you had a good time despite their not being a race and some of the running was unorganized!
Can’t wait to hear about the Ritz!

  3. I read Janelle’s recap and know she mentioned the run being disorganized, too. Such a shame. But all that yoga and wine sounds pretty awesome!

As you know, I signed up for this race and was very excited about the weekend. But when it was cancelled, it was too expensive for yoga and a fun run.

    See you in Dec!!

It was kind of a shame that the race was revamped in Cape Cod. It’s a gorgeous town and it would be a blast to run there. I’m glad you were able to find the silver lining and have a blast. To be honest, yoga on vacation sounds pretty fabulous to me.

i’m going to miss you in Amelia this year! The race just didn’t fit my schedule this time around. Maybe next year! Good luck to you!

  15. That’s a shame to hear that the run was disorganized. I wonder if ZOOMA felt like they were in over their head when they found out that the original race couldn’t go on as planned.
