What do you get when you add……….

What do you get when you add 8 women from 5 different states, one Florida beach setting, one half marathon and one weekend?

(LtoR) front-Judy, Marcia, Darlene, Tricia back- Holly, Karen, Wendy & MB

Let’s such say, it is one hell of a lot fun!!!!!!   Welcome to this week’s version of my weekly wrap!  I have prepared and have recapped for weeks to lead up to this.

On the plan:  Panama City Half Marathon

What really happened:  Most of you know I have a full-time job.  I have spent 25 years in the health care industry and the month end cycle does not change.  I went to work on Thursday with my car packed and I was ready for my adventure!  Finally, I finished my work and hopped in the car for my 6.5+ hour drive.

You know those ladies were up and waiting for me!  After all the introductions and jabber I headed off to bed.  I was back up early and at it to finish month end close as I headed to one of our Panama City facilities to work for the day.  Done!  and now the fun begins!

Coach M is in the house!  It was way to exciting and a little nerve-wracking to have my coach here. Let me tell you, exciting won out.  She is as cool as she appears in her blog!  We made it to packet pick up, grabbed a fun dinner of pizza and wine (just one glass) and of course, there has to be a stop at Dick’s.  We all grabbed a runner’s style nightcap at Starbuck’s and it was time to head back to our beautiful beach bungalow.

What do you get when, It is showtime?  Florida perfect weather!  Mid 50’s and a little overcast make for a great race day!  Coach M led us all through some pre race stretching and we talked about our goals.  Tricia and I had planned to pace each other for the race.  I could not find my Garmin and my Runkeeper app decided to malfunction so I relied strictly on Tricia’s guidance.  My race recap’s are not the best.  I don’t take a lot of pictures, I am there to run!  It was 13.1 miles along the Florida coast.  We had a slight wind and the course was relatively flat ( 4 floors recorded on my Fitbit).

Tricia and I stayed right on track and she pulled a little a head of me after mile 12.  My hamstrings at this point were starting to sing a little but you could not have beat the smile off my face when I rounded that last corner.  Coach M and the ladies were all cheering me on!  I looked up and saw the race clock.  Are you kidding me?  BAM!!!!!   PR in the books!!!!!

Margaritaville hosted the after party and there was free beer and gumbo for the runners.  Nice touch!  The race started on time, the awards started on time and it was a great event!  I would definitely recommend the Panama City half to anyone interested.

What do you get when, you get 8 women in one beach house=fun!  Running with great friends=fun!  Having your running coach witness your victory= priceless!

I could go on and on but you know what they say.  What happens in Panama City stays in Panama City!  So, what do you get when you……….. I am going to have to say, that’s a wrap! #HoLottaFun

If you could pick on destination for a girls race cation, where would you go?  tutus_mb-01panama-city-beach-marathonIMG_2742.JPG

YOU so killed that PR!!!!! I am just in awe of what you’ve accomplished in the last few months! I’m so glad I could be there to see you get this!
MB I so loved running with you, not that I ever thought I wouldn’t, I mean from the first time I met you, I knew we’d have a great time together!
I must RUNfess, you made me nervous before the race. You were so chill and relaxed. I really was scared I couldn’t keep up with Speedy Skippy for that long. Warmer, flat conditions are not my ideal race, but you helped me way more than you know!
Even in silence when we were digging deep, you motivated me!!!
I’m already trying to figure out what race you and I can meet up at again!
Congratulations to you again on a great race, PR and such a fun weekend!
