Taper week- getting ready for a Celebration!

WOO HOO!  It is taper week!  Time for a couple last quick runs and then it is time to celebrate!  Celebration Half Marathon is Sunday, January 29th!  I think I am ready.  I am little nervous about the weather forecast, I don’t run much in the rain and that is a great combo for a slip and fall!  Whew, I can’t do another one!  I am still healing!

Let’s get to the weekly wrap!  You know our hostesses, Holly and Tricia are waiting!  Thanks ladies, you are the best!  So make sure you all stop by and say HI!  It is another busy week at my house.  I am down to one house guest and I am starting to get a little pooped.  It has been nonstop here.

Sunday on the plan:   REST

Well we should say barf, worst Packer football game ever!  I had a baby shower to attend and managed to duck out early so I could come home and see the Packers get their a$$3es handed to them!  UGH!  Funny thing though, this pic wins my most liked Instagram post of the week!  I hope you are following!  Yeah, I needed some wine for that game!

Monday on the plan:  REST

Let’s just say, I got it down pat!  I should win an award for best rest day professional.

Tuesday on the plan:  4 easy miles

I was out early.  I forgot to mention that Monday thru Thursday I am driving back and forth to Tampa for an audit.  That is 3 hours a day on the road.  Shoot me!  4 miles done without a problem and I was not the last team member to work.  Score!  AVG HR 161 Time 43:03

Wednesday on the plan:  REST

Yoga was on my radar.  I hinted, I reminded and then I snuck out at 4:30 and made it to class right before 6!  A girl has to do what a girl has to do.  We are starting on a practice that is focusing on the chakras.  We are starting at the bottom and working our way up!  Muladhara helps to connect you to the earth giving your feet a strong foundation.  Amen to that!  AVG HR 76

Thursday on the plan:  3 miles- 1 easy and then 2 at 10:00 pace.

Nailed it!  AVG HR 163  I don’t know if I was more excited about hitting the mark or that it was my last drive to Tampa.  Either way I was smiling!

Friday on the plan:  REST

I planned on not venturing past Winter Haven on Friday and I stuck to it.  Getting caught up on all my other paperwork was priority #1.  I was up super early to make sure our house guest left on time for the airport so I was able to post my January Runfessions.  Stop by and check it out, the comments alone are worth a couple of minutes!

Saturday on the plan:  Celebration Expo

If you haven’t been to the town of Celebration you are missing a real treat.  It could be the back drop for any Disney family movie.  It’s just beautiful!  My BRF and I easily made our way to packet pick up (35 minutes from home) and made quite the haul!  This race is sponsored by Raw Threads and the race shirt is always super nice!  We also scored a thermos and a string bag full of goodies and coupons for the local restaurants.  They also had a fun photo booth set up for fun instant pictures.  It was a super fun morning!  I will share more pics when I post the race recap.

The hubby and I had made plans to prepare a Home Chef meal and it did not disappoint.  Lasagna rollups with cremini mushrooms and spinach was a winner!  Before my 9 pm bed time I did manage to get Flat Skippy out and ready.  After one last sneak peek at the weather, it still looks like rain, and I was off to bed.  Time to dream about a course PR!

Don’t you love a good taper week?  This will be my first time running the same half marathon twice, good test, right?

  1. Ugh! I cannot imagine having to drive that much so often.

I have to go take my parents to the dr on Tuesday — that’s basically 4 hours on the road, plus God knows how many hours at the dr’s office. To say that I’m not looking forward to it is the understatement of the year, but it’s just ONE day, thank goodness!

    Rest is important. 🙂

And a little birdie told me we’re going to be at the same halfs twice this year. Kinda bizarre.

  2. We did the chakras in the fall and I really enjoyed those classes. It’s fun to mix it up a bit at yoga, isn’t it?

Can’t wait for the race recap! Sounds like you had our weather…

  3. I hope the weather held out for your race this morning! My husband used to travel to Celebration, FL for business many years ago!. I vividly remember a picture he sent to me and how lovely it was there!

Soon I’ll be traveling for work – 3-5 hours, 2 days in a row. It’ll be a challenge to run. So far it’s only once a month. UGH!

Hope you had a great race!!

  12. I love the socks! Yes ma’am I do! I also love that you haven’t lost any momentum on your speedy workouts. I struggle to meet my paces, then surprise myself with a speedy long run, go figure??
I know by now how your half turned out and I’m super proud of you! I can’t wait to hear the details on it. I didn’t realize Celebration FL was just over 30 minutes from you!

I have those socks! (And the ones that say coffee too.) Driving back and forth all week would have worn me out. I’m not very good at taper weeks, or recovery ones for that matter. I like my normal running routine. I can’t wait to hear about the race. I hope you didn’t get too wet?? Thanks for linking, MB!

  17. I love those socks! So how did the half marathon go?!
