The Skinny on Coconut Oil

I was first introduced to coconut oil shortly after I started blogging.  My hubby encouraged me to meet with his social media guru for and she introduced me to the idea of coconut oil.  Since I was immediately intrigued, I had to try it.  More than 2 years later I am still going coconut strong!

Skinny & Co. provided me the samples in exchange for an honest review.

The real question is, are all coconut oils the same?   The answer of course is no, they are not. So  when you are looking for a coconut oil the first two words you want to look for is- COLD-PROCESSED.  If this is done correctly, the process allows the nutrients and enzymes in the oil to never be compromised making it alkaline and pH balanced.  What are the benefits to you?  Coconut oil can boost your metabolism, improve your energy, increase mental clarity, strengthen immune system activity and rehydrate cells.  Consequently, all the things that active folks like us need!

Skinny and Co. recently sent me a couple of samples to try.  The first sample I tested is their original raw coconut oil.  Their patent pending system allows the coconut oil to be cold pressed and never heated above 97 degrees Fahrenheit.  No chemicals, no fillers. no preservatives.  This is the closest possible product to a freshly picked coconut.  I start my mornings with a big giant spoonful in my coffee.  My recipe is, sugar-free coffee creamer, decaf coffee and then I swirl the oil around in the coffee.  I also use it in the kitchen a lot when sauteing veggies.  It does not take much and my veggies are tender and tasty!

What about in the bathroom?  Sample number two was the coconut facial oil.   I used  it for just about everything!  It will take off stubborn waterproof mascara, you can soothe it on just shaved skin or a skin rash or chafe mark.  I also put a dab on my ear that is healing from the stitches and dabbed a little on my  lips at night before bed and  on my heels.  My secret for great summer hair?  When I run in the morning I run some thru my hair and then put it up.  As a result my hair gets a nice conditioning treatment while I run!

Skinny and Co is a sustainable business that gives back.  They have a passion for changing the world one spoonful at a time.  Their product is truly tree to table!  I like the theory of why would you put something on your skin that you wouldn’t put in your body?  All or their products are non-toxic and edible!

I used coconut oil regularly and my husband and a few friends use it even more. What I’ve seen it do for acne is amazing and my husband swears by it for practically everything. It’s kind of crazy how beneficial it can be for so many things.

We like coconut oil. We’ve used it for cooking and also for some skin care. Problem is, the pugs also like coconut oil, so we have to be careful to use it when they’re not around 🙂

  6. I use coconut oil a lot! Thankfully, Mr. Judy likes coconut. Every time I bring my family baked goods with coconut they can tell there’s coconut in there & sadly they don’t like it.
