Run Utah Valley Half with MB this summer!

I love a good adventure and a destination race is the perfect excuse to get out and explore! When I received the invite to run Utah, specifically the Utah Valley Half Marathon I don’t think I could say YES fast enough!

From the race website:
This Utah Valley Half Marathon has a fast paced scenic course that begins in Provo Canyon and features much of Utah County’s diverse scenery. This spring Half Marathon sends runners along the US 189 highway, and runners will experience the majestic mountains of Utah. Half Marathon runners will enjoy one of the fastest half marathon courses in the country. Of all the Utah Half Marathons this may be the only one that has zero turns on the race course.  The half marathon race course has spectacular views of the beautiful Utah Valley, and historic down town Provo. Half Marathon runners will finish in front of the Historic Provo Tabernacle.

Did I mention that this is race is completely downhill?  Now that is an entirely new challenge!  The average temperature in Utah for June is between 53 degrees and 83 degrees.  With a 6:00am race start we should still be in the 50-60 range for most of the race.  Perfect!

Couple other interesting facts to share with you:
The Utah Valley Marathon was named a TOP 10 race in America by Runner’s World Magazine in 2014
They are giving out a nice race jacket instead of a shirt in 2017 due to this being the 10 year anniversary
It is  a super fast downhill course, BQ
Utah Valley has very large race medals

You can also run a full marathon or 10K distance.  The race promoters are  working on a blogger/runner tent location where we can organize a formal meet up!  This way if I happen to miss you at the start line we can all meet in a central place after the race and meet in person!  So what are you waiting for?  Mark your calendar for June 10th and join me and many others for a destination run that surely will not disappoint!

Be sure to check out the Utah Valley Marathon website for all the details and to register.  Use code MB15 for 15% off any distance!

Will I see you in Utah?  Do you have a destination run planned this year?

Make sure you stop by and show a little running love to our link up hostesses: Marcia, Erika and Patty!

There is a race here called Downhill at Dawn and it is an elevation loss… even though parts are rolling hills. It’s amazing! FAST!

  11. I like that they are offering race jackets instead of tech shirts. I also got asked to run this. And even though the race itself is free, I’m sure lodging and flights will be very expensive. I am going to think about it a bit more.
