And so we are to March- weekly wrap

And so we are on to March!  We are marching right into Spring!  The sun is out, the wind is blowing and it is a great time to log in some miles!  Let’s get right to this week’s weekly wrap!  Don’t  forget to stop by and visit our lovely hostesses:  Holly and Tricia!

Sunday on the plan:  Gasparilla 8K.  We left off last week with the Saturday 15K done and now it is Sunday, time for the 8K!  This was my first back to back challenge of this type and my main goal was to simply enjoy the experience!  I loved it!  Come back in a couple of days for the full recap! 8K  53:39 AVG HR 169

Monday on the plan:  Rest day per Coach M but I really thought a yoga class sounded nice this morning so I hit the studio for a little Yin yoga.  This class is a little more challenging for me because you do fewer poses but you hold them longer.  I am kind of a wiggle worm, I always have been so this class is really stretching me in more ways than one!  Plus, I am not going to lie, I love the idea of going to class on Monday morning and not going to work!  Yup, loving it!

Tuesday on the plan:  4 miles easy.  I took it at a nice easy pace.  11:00 min miles AVG HR 166

Wednesday on the plan:  3 mile tempo run.  I almost missed this one!  Coach M doesn’t usually have a run for me on Wednesday and I was reviewing my plan for March and BAM! there it was! I jumped right out there!  10:47/10:13/10:39  AVG HR 158

I hit the yoga studio that evening for my usual Wednesday night class.  We have explored the chakras and I am really loving it!  We focused on the Third Eye Chakra, the ability to focus on and see the big picture.  Well, the big picture was to work towards a headstand.  I am pretty sure I was born to stand on my feet but this time I accepted the challenge.  Yes, Coach M I am one step closer to a real headstand, you know Wendy can do one!

Thursday on the plan:  REST!  I only got in 3603 steps! Really !  The hubby and I took in a Spring training game.  It was truly a relaxing day!

Friday on the plan:  Light up the Night 5K.  The event is sponsored by the Junior League of Greater Winter Haven which I have been a member of for many years.   It is really a fun night out in Winter Haven.  This year the race ended at our new local brewery, Grove Roots.  I am not a beer fan by any stretch but this new joint has really caught on and I love to see everyone out and about!  Not that I had anything to prove to those younger Junior Leaguers but I wanted to do well.  We had a 7pm start time and the weather was great!  Low 60’s and humidity in the 50’s!  I ran thru the night like it was my job!  29:52 AVG HR 168

WE have this week’s most liked Instagram post!  1st place for me in my age group and 1st place for Belinda (BRF) in her’s.   AWESOME SAUCE!  We did celebrate a little.  No long run tomorrow morning!

Saturday on the plan:  The hubby and I piddled around a little and decided it was a great day to head over to Epcot.  The Flower and Garden festival has started and  a new concert series has launched too!  I managed to get in 11836 steps for the day and tried a few great dishes.  The scallops and crunchy green beans was my favorite.  We ended the night with a Jon Secada concert.  Great show!

It was a great week of miles, yoga, baseball, great food and live music!  March winds are blowing and I am preparing for the Best Damn Race in New Orleans!  This will be half marathon #2 for the year!

Do you have a favorite local 5K?  Do you feel like you need to run it like your job because everyone knows who you are?

congrats on 1st place! I had a lot of fave races in Jersey, but we’ve only been in SC a year so no new faves for me yet!

  2. Ha! Not that many people know who I am. 🙂 And I’m BOTP anyways. Maybe there’s something to that. Congrats on your AG award!

I seriously need some more fun in my life. I was just contemplating that last night, trying to figure out what would appeal to me AND Mr. Judy. Maybe we need a game night! I could take home some of my parents’ games, cause God knows they have enough!

Sounds like it was a great week MB.

So the chair hocus pocus is working toward headstand? I am intrigued! Great week for you. Solid running and lots of fun, the way it should be. We have a 5k here in town where everybody knows me and expects me to win. Once they stopped giving out AG trophies I’ve only run it on and off. Kind of snotty of me. :p

  6. Congrats on the AG award, that is awesome. I generally find running easier at night anyway.

And yes to the local races, I always feel more pressure to push because I know people (which doesn’t make sense but I guess it’s just human instinct)! -M

  7. How awesome 1st place woo hoo! I haven’t done a night race in so long! Hey I do plan on changing that come November though! 😉

It’s a nice class- they do fewer poses and hold the pose longer- like an average of 3 minutes or so. It is a really nice stretch.

  14. Looks like you had an amazing time at Gasparilla and great job on your night 5k and AG awards for you and your BRF!

There are a few local 5ks that I really enjoy. The Memorial Day 5K holds a special place in my heart.

I always try to blend in when I’m running. I love the whole community aspect of it, but when it comes down to it, I just want to become a part of the field and do my thing.

Okay, the headstand on the chairs looks tough, in some ways that just looks harder than doing straight up against a wall, wow you are tough, great job!!!!

The local races do put a bit of added pressure on me, I have to admit. I’ve only run a couple of races at night, both in the heat of summer. It was not pleasant. A huge congrats on your age group win! I’m very impressed by your headstand. Instead of chairs, I would need a crane… Thanks for linking, MB!

  23. Congrats on your AG!

And look at you with the headstand! I could never get the hang of trying to do one on the chairs – always afraid of falling!
