Hot Coffee January Talk

Grab a cup of hot coffee and join me for a few minutes!  We have some catching up to do!

It is still hard to believe that it is the first of January.  I am a very calendar oriented person and I am still a little thrown off.  With the last-minute travel to Texas for the New Year’s holiday that was not a holiday, I will admit, I am out of sorts.

I am loving all the 2017 goal posts but I have yet to write my own.  I don’t have my race calendar planned past February but I will. And I am behind on my blog post reading but I will catch up!

I will get my long run done this weekend but I am nervous.  Two Saturdays ago I fell halfway thru 6 miles. I still have scabs on my knees and elbow. Last Saturday we were in Houston going thru my mother’s belongings after her tragic death. I missed my 8 mile run all together. My ❤ still hurts.

Today it is me, my running shoes, fresh air and tons of pavement. I am not coming back until I have my 10 miles in!  I have the Celebration Half marathon coming up January 29th!

Normal will come back I just know it! If you missed my post yesterday I am joining ZOOMA once again for the ZOOMA Run Love challenge.  It does not start until Monday so you have plenty of time!  Join me!  Invite your friends!

Thank you all for the sweet comments and messages this past week.  Don’t forget to stop by and visit with our hostesses Coco and Deborah, they have coffee too!  Well I have grabbed my hot coffee and headed to the kitchen and cannot remember why I am standing here????????

Who is “getting lucky”  this weekend?  LOL!  Oh, the oven timer is going off, I might have cinnamon rolls in the oven!

  1. I talk to myself all the time! Earlier this week I had to apologize to my son–I was cooking dinner–and he just laughed at me. Whew. I’m a little off anyways, so it’s kind of expected! I can also blame all the meds I’m on…

Glad you are healing inside and out. I’m planning my trip to Florida and I want to hug you in person!

Healing slow and easy and yes I want that hug! We don’t even have to run- we can kayak, paddle board, drink wine in the kayak……. 🙂 XXOO

  2. Mmmmm . . . cinnamon rolls. 🙂

I don’t have a #holotta goals yet myself. I do have 2 of my halfs signed up for, and we’re still talking about a third. Goals have been in the back of my mind, but I haven’t really found the time to focus on them yet.

  3. Oh Gosh…I could have written all of those “confessions” up above. I talk to myself, more than ever…as long as I’m not also arguing with said self, all is well. ((hugs))

OMG #5. I need to stop doing that. With passwords especially! Your 10 is going to be great tomorrow. I know it. Coaches know those things. I ran 10 miles around Celebration with a friend many years ago. I should really think about racing that one of these years. Now go get those cinnamon rolls. A runner needs her fuel. xo

  9. Girly I can so relate to this! I haven’t had much unexpected plans and I still can’t seem to get my feet under me. I’m wondering if this is going to be the new norm for me?
I sure hope not! Looking forward to those goals and what races I get to see you at! Hang in there, Oh look it’s now 24 degrees outside we are up from 18 when I first got up!

I love all those “as I get older” truths! I seriously can identify with them ALL! hah!I am sorry about your mom- It makes everything harder. Letting yourself off the hook a bit is hard too, but necessary! Best of luck on your Jan 29th race!

    • MB says:

You hit the nail on the head, letting myself off the hook……….. thank you for the reminder! And thanks for stopping by for coffee!

  12. Teresa says:

#2, 7 and 9! You nailed me! Getting old is definitely not for the faint of heart but I’m finding so much “freedom” in it as well!

Glad you are healing up nicely but dang, those scabs can be more painful than the fall itself, especially when they start pulling and getting tight!

You will find normal again, a new normal. Every life changing event is a chance to find a new normal with new blessings …now go get those miles in and enjoy every single step!!

  13. WE have about four inches of fresh powder snow here in TN, and I’m loving seeing it! It will probably melt off in the afternoon sun where they’ve salted the roads, but I’m going to enjoy it anyway! Love your “as I get older” truths too 😀

I talk to myself! Mostly at work, figuring out a problem. I work in an open office space, so I think all my coworkers think I’m crazy!

I’m sorry about your mother! 🙁 I can’t imagine what that must be like, especially at this time of year. You get a blog pass in my book, oh, forever if you’d like!

I talk to myself all the time — I think it might be a mom thing?? Sometimes, I don’t even realize that I’m doing it until I get “that look” in the grocery store 🙂

  18. Hahahah – I laughed at that. I wish I knew how awesome naps were when I was a kid.
