And the baby’s middle name is…………Wait for it!

Hello friends!  I wanted to share a little fun from the baby shower this past weekend!  If you missed the  shotgun wedding announcement here is the only photo I have.  I will take it!

Alyssa & PJ Brooks

If you can tell from the photo my new daughter in law is half chinese and half mexican.  This makes for a fun family get together, let me tell you!

I am not a huge fan of showers I will admit.  I usually have to drag myself to such events but I was more than thrilled and a little nervous to host this event for Alyssa.  Thankfully my hubby was a real trooper and completed my honey-do list and the house has never looked better!

I got the idea from Deborah over at Confessions of a Mother Runner and I assembled a fun bubble bar.  It was a huge hit!  I found all the necessary plasticware I needed at Amazon and used some favorite juice flavors, champagne and sprite for mixers.  I will tell you the passionfruit juice was the crowd favorite.  The frozen blueberries kept the drinks nice and cold!

Alyssa’s girlfriend was in charge of the games, thank goodness, and everyone had a fun time!  We tasted baby food, wrote messages on diapers for late night diaper changes and I even got in on the diaper challenge.  Cause you know I am so good at that!  Check out this funny video clip!

I added a couple catering trays from Publix, chicken tenders and a Cesaer salad, the cake, a veggie and cheese tray and a fruit salad and there was plenty to eat!

In Alyssa’s family it is tradition for the grand mother to name the baby’s middle name.  The baby’s first name is Luna, mexican/spanish for moon.  Finally, the announcement was made and the baby’s middle name is Ming Yuet.   You pronounce it like ming ute.  Cantonese/Chinese for bright moon.  Luna Ming Yuet Brooks.  I cannot wait for her arrival!

Mar Mar wrote this for me! Ming Yuet in Chinese

I think everyone had fun visiting and the first guests did not leave until 4 hours later!  By this time Mr. Jackson showed back up at the house thinking by now I need back up and that sweet little chinese Grandma, Mar Mar took to him like nobodies business.  Let’s just say when she comes back next time she will be wearing her swimsuit and she has every intention of spending the day with my hubby waterskiing on the lake.  Go Grandma!  Look at that smile!

Alyssa’s mom-Maria, her mother-Grandma Martine, Alyssa, my new best friend, the Chinese grandmother Mar Mar and Me- don’t I look tall!

Let’s just say after I got the last person out of my house my last party guest left it was time for a little happy hour if you know what I mean!  LOL!

Don’t you love a fun family get together?  I think this new part of our family will keep us laughing for years!  Thanks for stopping by, Skippy is super excited about this baby’s arrival!

The bubble bar is tons of fun and people can create all they want! I like using the champagne flutes because then you know that no one really drinks to much. Although Grandma Mar Mar only needed one and whoa! She was a ton of fun!

  24. HoHo Runs says:

What fun! Skippy, you did good! I’m going to steal the bubble bar idea. And, I love they are incorporating her family’s tradition into the middle name.

    • MB says:

Thanks! I like the idea of family tradition too- it is very important. I am sure this child will be just as unique as her name <3
