You always have time for the things you put first

You always have time for the things you put first.  I think this best describes my exercise philosophy.  If I do not put it first, first on my calendar or schedule it first during the day it is easy to get distracted.  I got in 5 active days this week only because I moved Sunday’s run to Saturday.  I still amaze myself at how distracted and lazy I can get in a short amount of time!  Well let’s get to this week’s wrap up!

Women supporting active women! Stop by and link your weekly wrap with Holly and Tricia!

Sunday on the plan:  I had 8 miles on the plan and after the long drive home on Saturday from Georgia, I was more than ready to get outside and stretch my legs!  My BRF met me at 7 am and I let her know that we must now run the bridge and back 2 complete times each weekend until I go to Utah.  She is always ready for the challenge!  8.3 miles  12 min miles AVG HR 161

Monday on the plan:  REST! nailed it, I did nothing!  I did not set my alarm and I did not go to yoga, I did not start my day off right and I sure as heck did not rebound!

Tuesday on the plan:  4 X 400M  I love these exercises and this one was great!  Numbers in the 9’s!  9:27/9:02/9:18/9:22  3.2 miles 35 minutes AVG HR 151

This week’s most like Instagram post- thank you!

Wednesday on the plan:  Yup, another rest day!  I did attend a Mindful Leadership workshop that I really enjoyed.  It helped me put some things together in my head about my leadership style and my future work goals.  It was definitely time well spent!

Thursday on the plan:  YOGA!  I went to a Hatha Yoga style class and loved all the movement. AVG HR 86  After class I came home and got my run in.  3 miles with a fast finish was on the schedule and I was stretched out and ready!  10:22/10:00/9:59  AVG HR 156  I felt charged and ready to tackle the rest of the day!

Remember to take advantage of the Spandits sale- take $10 off when you spend $50!

Friday on the plan:  Good Friday!!!!  When I bought my ActivMotion bar you register with the company.  Friday morning they sent out an email with 2 workouts attached that you could download for FREE!  Yes, thank you, I like FREE!  I did the 30 minute power core workout that they sent and followed it with the new drills that Coach M sent.  Lots of lunges and squats needed to get ready for Utah!  AVG HR 98

Saturday on the plan:  With Sunday being Easter I made sure I got my long run in on Saturday.  7.13 miles- with bridge repeats followed by spring yard work in my pineapple garden.  I made a big Blue Apron lunch and the hubby and I headed out for 18 holes of golf.  One par and no balls lost!  It was a super windy afternoon but definitely a fun one!  The hubby and I finished the day with oysters and a cocktail and in bed early!

I have next week planned out better and the hubby is off on another work trip so I can’t blame him on anything!  It will definitely be a week for this month’s motto:  you always have time for the things you put first!

What do you always have time for first each day?  Do you exercise first?  Can you exercise late in the day?

  1. I am sure I could benefit from a mindfulness seminar myself. I find that really hard!

We do live in a world where multi tasking is the norm. Why I ask myself ? I am learning to slow down a bit, it does take some work!

  2. Darlene says:

Good for you getting it all done. You’re gonna rock that next half with all that bridge work.

This is so true. I have to plan my workouts every week, including training runs. While i don’t exercise in the morning (except on the weekends), I always make a point to get in my workouts right after work. I don’t even go home first because I know I’ll be less likely to leave home once I’m there!

Exactly! Once I get home I am toast! Even when I was doing the Step Bet challenge it was so tough to get those last steps in once I got home!

  4. Although I have my daily (monthly) challenges, most days I find myself doing them before bed, even though there are sporadic bits of time throughout the day when I could do them. I guess I have the procrastination thing down to a perfect science.

I don’t think you ever sit still! LOL! I like to start relaxing sooner so I am ready for bed and asleep in less than 10 minutes 🙂

Sounds like a great week. I ^can^ workout later in the day, but it takes a lot more dedication because there are always competing demands on my time the later it gets – even if it’s just wanting to get home and relax.

  8. Since I enjoy sleep, I never run or workout before work which leaves me to do it later in the day. I don’t mind though. Have a great week MB!

I think it is all in what you get used to. Some people look forward to it after a long day after work. My hubby is too distracting, he can find many other things for me to do after work ! 🙂

Your week looks darn good! I’m the same way. Workouts need to be first. Well as soon as I get the kids off to school…

Great week MB! I’m trying to incorporate more hills (especially down but that comes with the up) for Utah too. I have to knock out my runs early or they will not happen. The only exception is bike trainer rides. I’ve been doing those in the evenings while watching Sun Records. It sounds like a fun day of playing golf and eating oysters! Thanks for linking!

  11. You do! I think scheduling the workouts is sometimes the only way it gets done! Hope you are having a good week so far.

  12. I also put exercise first, because otherwise Im sure I wouldn’t get to it as often! Today I put off my workout because i had a bunch of errands and chores to get done, so hopefully I get to it at some point!

  13. Just look at all those 9’s! I’m afraid I won’t be seeing any more of them until this fall but it’s ok!
You’ll do great and all this hard work will pay off in Utah for you.
Thinking about your question, if I did not get my run done in the mornings I would not be disciplined enough after work to do it!
I even skipped out on a 5k this weekend because it didn’t start til 9! Well that and I had to drive to the next county but I punished myself by having to do a 10k instead.

I saw you getting that 10K in! Great job! I can find to many things to do after work besides workout so I gotta hit hard in the morning or I am toast! Happy Monday! XXOO

I am loving it Jennifer- they come in different weights. There are balls in the inside moving side to side so you are trying to keep it steady and do the workout! 🙂

I do try to plan my week around my workouts. I like to make sure I get them in and then everything else falls into place nicely. Hope you have a good week!

    Great advice!

Exercise is usually my first order of business in the morning. I feel like if I can get in a run or a workout, I can do anything!

  18. I definitely like to run in the mornings and I teach my class in the afternoons 3 days a week. The ladies in my class get off work around 3 so that is when they can get their workout in. I would rather take the morning classes. I miss yoga sometimes! Great job on your runs and workouts for the week!

I always feel like by putting exercise first I actually get more things done. I totally agree with your post and I love that you got back from your trip and jumped right into a 8 mile run!! Love that motivation! Have a great week Mary Beth!

  20. I love your motto. Life is all about priorities and making choices. While our time might be limited, and we might not be able to do every single thing on our list, its amazing what we can accomplish when we put our minds to it.

  21. Great week of workouts! I agree that if you don’t make working out a priority then it’s not going to happen. Though I can’t do it first thing in the morning, when I’m training for a race my workouts are a priority over other things around my house 😉

  22. How was the Mindful Leadership program? That sounds interesting! Way to stick to your training plan!
