5 things I am looking forward to in New Orleans
TGIF friends! Tomorrow morning bright and early I am headed to New Orleans! This is my second trip to the Big Easy and I am super excited! I will share my top 5 things I am looking forward to in New Orleans.
It is a new race and a new state!!! Make this state #8! I am running the Best Damn Race- New Orleans! This is their first time in this city so I am excited to run in the inaugural race!
Running with friends!! I am so looking forward to seeing and running with my Mississippi girl, Tricia! If you remember correctly, she and I paced/pushed ourselves to half marathon PR’s this past December in Panama City. Can we hold the pace? If you believe that long SLOW runs build stronger runners, then call me Hercules! I am ready! So I will throw it out there, Goal A- to finish in 2:12, Goal B- to finish under 2:20, Goal C- to finish under 2:30. I will admit it has been a tough tummy week and my ultimate goal is to stay out of the porta potty and to have a fun time!
Explore new restaurants! I love the cajun food scene. Beignets, red beans and rice, jambalaya, bread pudding, shrimp and grits and anything with a bourbon sauce! The city is rich with history and it shows in their food.
New Orleans jazz! I love a great jazz band. A fun club, a glass of wine, some cool swingy jazz- awwwww. I can sit for hours and listen and people watch. The hubby and I found a fun jazz club on Bourbon Street last year and I am looking forward to checking it out again.
Crescent City Cooks! I just happened to stumble across this fun cooking school on my last visit and plan to sit in on a demonstration class Monday morning. It is like sitting and watching a Food Network cooking show live. The chef prepares 2 main dishes plus 1 dessert. You receive a copy of the recipes and get to eat all the food! It is a fun way to learn more about the culinary history, have a great lunch and learn a few new tricks!
I gotta run, I need to finish packing! If you have a favorite restaurant or happy hour spot please share I would hate to miss a hidden gem!
